Chosen curriculum will be arranged into appropriate subject areas. For example, in English, materials will be chosen for literature, reading comprehension, spelling, grammar, and the writing process. When all of these materials are completed successfully, credit will be awarded for the course.
The courses that are required for graduation mirror the courses required by the public schools for multiple reasons. First, the majority of our students choose to continue their education which means they need to meet the entrance requirements for public and/or private trade schools, colleges, and/or universities. What is different in our setting is that we can choose different curriculums to fulfill those course requirements based on our student's needs. Some of the materials are presented one-on-one which allows for differences in speed. Others are presented in small mixed-age groups. Finally, we work to mastery.
A copy of the state of Texas graduation requirements can be found on the Texas Education Agency’s website – www.tea.state.tx.us.
Graduation plans for high school students are developed when a student notifies us of intent to enroll and appropriate documents are signed. Once developed, a conference is held with the student and his/her parent(s) or guardian(s) to go over the plan.
From that point on, parents receive report cards every nine-weeks.

Grading Scale
Our grading scale is traditional.
Letter/Number Grades 4-Point Scale
A (90-100) 4.0
B (80-89) 3.0
C (70-79) 2.0
F (60-69) 0 points
The grades and/or points are averaged for every 0.5 credit. For example, an 85 in English III (a full credit course) would be written down twice; whereas an 85 in Speech (a half credit course) would be written down once.
